What's New - August 2022

September 2022 : August 2022 : June 2022

New Features

We have a long list of ideas on how we can bring value to our customers through ATTOM Cloud. The following is a small set of those ideas that we have found time to implement this month. We have more to come and we are always interested in hearing from you our customers about how we can make the ATTOM Cloud experience even better.

Solution Pack

We have received a lot of great feedback from our customers about the challenges faced in evaluating and then starting to use property data. ATTOM has decided it can help by not only providing data but also sharing our expertise in using property data. This is being made available in the form of a solution pack. Each solution pack seeks to solve a specific need..A solution pack combines the data needed for a specific type of project and then combines that with a collection of resources and tools that can help you get started in using that data.

Solution Catalog

The growing collection of solution packs developed by ATTOM is being published in a library known as a solution catalog. The solution catalog provides browsing, searching, and filtering to help you best match your project needs. Once you find a solution of interest, we then provide a quick and simple way for you to explore its content.

Quality of Life

Part of our mission is to make ATTOM Cloud a great experience for all that use it. The following are changes made as part of that mission.

ATTOM Cloud Invitations

When ATTOM Cloud was first launched, we focused our attention on the experience of customers new to ATTOM Cloud looking to evaluate what we had to offer. As the customer base has grown we have received requests to adjust the registration process for customers wanting to simply add a new ATTOM Cloud account.

The first feature we are adding to address this need is to provide a special URL that can be used to register new users to an existing ATTOM Cloud account. The new URL can be accessed from your ATTOM Cloud profile

Data Guide

It's taken a while, but we have finally completed the initial basic documentation for the 41 data elements that currently make up ATTOM Cloud. This includes all the data we have added to ATTOM Cloud over the past six months. The Data Guide is designed to provide basic information about the data that is available and where to find it inside of ATTOM Cloud. More detailed insight into the data is covered in p-articles that can be found as part of solution packs.

The enhancements to the data guide include the addition of a sample record that provides some insight into the data that is included as part of each data element. Examples are included in the Data section of this article.

What's New Shortcut

We have reduced the number of clicks to find out the latest improvements to ATTOM Cloud from two to one. From the ATTOM Cloud documentation home page, clicking on What's New will take you directly to the documentation of What's New for the most recent month. To find out what was added in previous months, follow the links in the Related Articles section at the bottom.

Data

ATTOM is currently looking for new sources of property data. When we find new data it is our goal to make it available within ATTOM Cloud asap. The following are new data elements that are now available as part of ATTOM Cloud. Most of these are available for immediate evaluation via our 5-county limited trial database, included as part of your ATTOM Cloud account.

Deprecated ATTOM IDs (Property)

Each time ATTOM encounters a property transaction for a property it cannot recognize, a new ATTOM ID is assigned to the property. For example, a new community might list properties for sale based upon lot numbers before the Tax Assessor has assigned an APN or USPS has assigned an official postal address. Eventually, additional information may become available that allows us to match the transaction back to an existing property (ATTOM ID). When that happens the new ATTOM ID is retired, or deprecated. This table is provided as a way for customers to audit transactional data that may have referenced these ATTOM IDs. Over the years ATTOM had accumulated 1.6 million of these deprecated ATTOM IDs. Previously we had been keeping them as part of our PropertyFeature table. This has been found to be problematic for anyone wanting to generate queries that only include active ATTOM IDs. These ATTOM IDs have been removed from PropertyFeature and are now stored in a separate table - DeprecatedAttomID.

FEMA Flood (Boundary)

As part of the National Flood Insurance Program, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) publish information about flood risk by dissecting the US into 72,000 areas. These are known as FIRM Panels and FIRMettes - Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM). Each FIRM Panel identifies areas (flood zones) in which there is a specific risk of flooding.

Geo ID 1 : 2d81e65ac27b6aa833d5f5d1d8f14154
FIRM Panel 42081C
Zone Type X
Zone Subtype 0.2 PCT ANNUAL CHANCE FLOOD HAZARD
Description Areas identified in a community's FIS as areas of moderate or minimal hazard from the principal source of flood in the area.  However, buildings in these zones could be flooded by severe, concentrated rainfall coupled with inadequate local drainage systems.  Local stormwater drainage systems are not normally considered in a community's FIS.  The failure of a local drainage system creates areas of high flood risk within these rate zones.  Flood insurance is available in participating communities but is not required by regulation in these zones.
