Subdivisions (Tracts) of land are usually accompanied by a Plat Map which defines the area covered by the subdivision showing the boundaries of all properties along with roads, easements, and areas of public land. They are used extensively by developers when a larger tract is being subdivided, or when existing properties are being merged into a single property.
