Why do building permits get deleted?

In January 2023, a new (DeletedFlag) was added to the BuildingPermit table in ATTOM Cloud

Building Permit records get marked as deleted for several reasons:

• An existing building permit gets superseded by a new building permit and the old one is no longer valid
• ATTOM was provided with a record that was not really a valid building permit and we need to have it deleted
• The local jurisdiction changes the permit number (for any reason) and we need to flag the old one as being invalid
• A duplicate permit has been identified and we need to delete one to clarify

When running queries against building permit data, it is recommended that filtering be added to exclude deleted building permits.
