Direct Integration from Tableau

It is possible to import an entire table from ATTOM Cloud into Tableau as well as to import selected rows/columns from one or more tables using a SQL Query.

Creating a SQL Server Database Connection

To use ATTOM Cloud data from within Tableau we must create a Microsoft SQL Server connection to the ATTOM Cloud database using the information provided by ATTOM CLoud under Direct Integration.

  1. Select Data :: New Data Source (or <Ctrl><D>)
  2. Select More... and then select Microsoft SQL Server from the list of Installed Connectors

Connecting the ATTOM Cloud Database

Note: Details about the ATTOM Cloud database can be found in ATTOM Cloud under Direct Integration.

  1. Enter the hostname as Server
  2. Enter the Database
  3. For Authentication, select Use a specific username and password
  4. Enter your username as displayed in Direct Integration (this will differ slightly from the e-mail address used to sign in to ATTOM Cloud)
  5. Enter your current password used to sign in to ATTOM Cloud
  6. Select Sign In

Importing entire ATTOM Cloud Tables

A list of all the tables/views available in the ATTOM Cloud database should now be displayed

  1. For each table that you wish to import, drag the table from the left onto the designated area

 Establishing Relationships

If you import multiple tables such as dimension tables, tableau will automatically look for relationships (common fields) to join those tables

  1. Review any relationships established by Tableau to make sure each is correct. (we generally find Tableau does a good job)
